Why do we like this jig?

This 24” jig is the finest we hae ever seen. It is based on AKEDAs 16” model, which has been in production for several years. It has all the same proven features and shares all the same kits and accessories!

Did you know, AKEDAs guide fingers sit below the surface of the guide rail, so your router base never touches them?

The jig is manufactured to such a high degree of precision, we found we did not need the oversize and undersize guide bushings provided to fine-tune our joint fit.

Is it good value?

The BC24 weighs a phenomenal 40 lbs. (DC16 - 30 lbs.) so it provides you with a heavy base that absorbs vibration. The value is incredible! Compare it with similar jigs on a per lb. basis, and you will be shocked!

The AKEDA is the only jig that allows you to vary the angle of your through dovetail pins. This is a great feature! You can form steeper angled pins in thinner material where you need greater strength, more glue area and better aesthetics. You can use the shallower angle pin guides for thicker material.

Is the AKEDA really different to the others?

The reviewer in Fine Woodworking Magazine wrote, "The AKEDA jig truly is a new approach to cutting dovetail joints - and a successful one."

What options do we recommend?

For your BC24 we recommend AKEDAs comprehensive C-Kit which contains most of the available accessories including the full set of optional angle through dovetail pin guides.

What are the best features of the DC16?

It has been in production for several years, so it is well proven. It has excellent reviews, and loyal customers. American Woodworker magazine awarded it "Editors Choice".

We especially like the idiot-proof snap-in guide fingers that never slip sideways or work loose as they do on other jigs.

Why do we like this jig?

The system is so well thought out, AKEDA even provides .004 inch oversize and undersize guide bushings for fine adjustment of joint fit.

We also like the fact you can put the jig away in its original box, then use it months later without having to re-learn it.

What about router support and clamping?

We like the fact that the full router support is integral with the jig and never needs to be removed. Also your router base never touches the guide fingers.

One well-known authority on woodworking thought the clamping system was the best feature. He called it “awesome”, a “tour de force” and a “truly brilliant feature”.

What options do we recommend?

Dovetail jigs make a huge mess, so the AKEDA dust collector is a must. It is very effective. You simply snap it in place and forget about it. It is available as a separate accessory, and it is also included in the A-Kit and C-Kit.

For best value we recommend the C-Kit. We also recommend the clear acrylic router sub base (P/N 3700) and the accessory storage case (P/N 3710).

What can we say about it? It is one of the best we have seen. It is concise, well illustrated and easy to follow. It contains many hints and tips, and a trouble shooting section.

It folds open flat on your bench. If you are like us, after we used the jig for the first time we never looked at the manual again!

AKEDAs Index Strip Adjuster is designed to allow you to shift the index strip in your guide rail so you can center your guide fingers on any width work piece. It means you are no longer limited to stock widths in 1/8" increments!

The adjuster does not require any modification to recent model jigs. Earlier model jigs require a simple modification that wont take more than 10 minutes.
